More to the Financials

After browsing Pou Sheng’s website again, with mind fresh from financial statements I was able to establish a clearer understanding of their vision.
Combining Core Values of Dedication, Loyalty, Innovation and Service with their Business Philosophy of Healthiness, Leisure, Fashion, Sports and Green, it seems as though Pou Sheng have a clear goal and direction for their what sounds to be a very large Corporation! With “8,000+ directly and indirectly operated retail outlets and franchised stores with over 20,000 direct employees” covering China, Hong Kong and Taiwan! Whatta spread.

Seems to me like they have found a place in the market where both leisure and sporting wear where needed and they have given people one convenient location for both, with that a high deman and therefore, success following them.

Private Plan Cancelled!

Hi Everyone,
More research from my last post has given me some clarity.
Turns out while Yeu Yeun Industrial are the largest Shareholder of Pou Sheng, they are not the Parent Company (silly me, how confusing is this Company structure stuff!). My Company’s parent company is indeed Pou Chen Corp!
While Yeu Yeun was in favour of selling its shares as part of the planto go private, more than 10% of Shareholders voted against the decision.

Why am I actually finding this research into my Company so interesting… I feel like Nancy Drew.

Thanks Reuters for the info!

From Publicly listed to Private?

Guys! Help me if I am mistaken but from what I understand from the below article about my Company is that Parent Company and Shareholder Yeu Yeun Industrial has sold its shares in the company as part of a cancellation proposal from Pou Chen Corp to take Pou Sheng private!

I wonder if this will still make it a reporting entity? Any thoughts on the implications for my Company’s reporting obligations if this article is correct and Pou Sheng goes private.

Origin of Pou Sheng

Turns out, Pou Sheng spun off it parent company, Yue Yuen Industrial Holdings, in 2008 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. From what I have learnt in Chapter 2 of the Study Guide, I think this makes them a Reporting Entity as of 2008 (please correct me if I am wrong), that would explain why their Annual Reports were so easy to find!
Yue Yuen Industrial, the parent company, is a Footwear Company in Hong Kong!

Thanks to South China Morning Post for that bit of info on my Company.

My Company

Pou Sheng International (Holdings) Limited
Website: http://en.pousheng.com/

My company is Pou Sheng, it is a Sportswear retailer in China! While I am not the sportiest, I do love an athleisure moment so I was happy with the company assigned to me.
My favourite thing about Pho Sheng is their vision – to ‘make sports your life’.
With a focus on being flexible and fun to encourage their brand to be a lifestyle instead of just clothing and sports products, this company seems to have a great marketing strategy to motivate and inspire their customers!

Something to keep you sane

Something I like to like to ask myself when I am feeling inadequate or as though my copious efforts have not reached the standard I have set for myself is:
Have I done my best?
And I don’t mean the best work of my whole entire life; and I don’t mean have i neared killed myself to get something done to perfection.
I am asking myself, have I done the best I could at that time in my life, taking into consideration everything else that had my attention.
If no, I know I need to do better to give my best go next time.
But if yes, I am proud.
Because win or lose, succeed or fail I know I did my best.

And all I can do, is the best I can do.

Time to knuckle down

Rearing the end of busy season at work has also seen the beginning of work party season, boy can those Accountants party! After a very full on lecture and tutorial yesterday morning followed by work and a work social event I find myself feeling slightly behind and stressed, guess it’s time to knuckle down and get that ASS#1 Draft submitted for my peers to give me some quality feedback before time runs out!

P.s. Someone let me know if they find the magical ke to balancing work, family, friends, social life and study because im drowning!! Ahhh

Online Communication

I  have always been an advocate for appreciating how technology has grown with us, providing opportunities to connect with those in places and at times we might never have been able to without it, but also preaching that there is no better communication than face to face. Without a voice to convey tone, a face to observe expressions and a body to take cues from, communication has its limits. I do believe however, that actively listening to someone, even online is the key to building a relationship and is rare in this day and age where the point is the end goal and any words surrounding it are padding that stands in the way. It is the padding surrounding the point someone is trying to make where their personality lives..
